I think basically they are equal. I have heard if you are watching sports with a lot of movement and quick screen movement to use 720p and if you are watching something more stationary to watch it in 1080i. I could be completely wrong but that is what I have heard. I can't really tell much of a difference to be honest.

so which one is better? a t.v. that has both that you can switch to?
